Časopis Bridge vypsal začátkem školního roku soutěž pro studenty středních škol, jejímž cílem bylo vybrat nejlepší fotografii s popisem v anglickém jazyce. Témata fotografií vycházela z 15 maturitních podtémat. Vyhodnocení soutěže proběhlo v nedávné době, kdy fotografie a popisy zaslané z různých škol celé České republiky ohodnotila komise složená s redaktorů Bridge a lektorů AJ. Máme velikou radost, že právě studentka našeho gymnázia, Ráchel Mimochodková z 5C, získala svým pojednáním na téma „SOCIETY“ skvělé první místo! Moc gratulujeme!! A samozřejmě děkujeme i ostatním studentům, kteří se soutěže zúčastnili, za skvělou reprezentaci naší školy.

Society In the photo there are many young people. They are students and they are on a ball. It's their prom, which is really important for them. The girls have beautiful dresses. Only one of them wears short, the rest of them have long dress and boys wear suits. All of them have rose, which they got from their teacher and they got also a sash. They are screaming, waving and looking toward the stage where is probably their teacher. I think he said something funny and they support him. It's an official event and it's situated in a beautiful place, probably in Národní Dům na Vinohradech in Prague. In my opinion they really want to enjoy the evening because it is their night. The atmosphere is good and friendly but little bit sad, maybe because they know they have a few time to the end of their study on the hight school.

Hodnocení komise:

This shot illustrates one of the harder lessons of photojournalism: sometimes we need to look away from the main event to find the more interesting action. Here we can see that something important is happening outside of the frame, but it´s not necessary to see it. The joy of the moment is captured in the faces of the young people, the reaction to the event is just as important as the event itself. The winner successfully combined a very powerful image with a description that would allow her to pass the exams.
